The Etsy holiday and seasonal calendar lists this year's selling events by month, the keywords that peak before each one, and the date your listings should be live.
“List by” is our recommendation, not an Etsy rule: have listings live 6 to 8 weeks before the event, so they have time to be found before the rush.
The Etsy Holiday & Seasonal Calendar lays out the year's selling events month by month, from major gift holidays such as Christmas to smaller dates like Diwali or Small Business Saturday. For each event you get its date, the search keywords that climb in the weeks before it, and a list by date set six to eight weeks ahead of the day. Upcoming events sit at the top, so the next deadline is always the first thing you see.
Seasonal shoppers start early. Gift buyers browse, save favorites and compare shops long before an event, and many order with plenty of time left for shipping. A listing that goes live a few days before a holiday misses most of that window. Publishing early gives a new listing time to gather views and favorites, gives you time to fix photos or prices that are not converting, and leaves room to order stock or print samples.
Say it is late summer and the calendar shows Christmas with a list-by date near the end of October, with keywords such as ornament, stocking and santa on the rise. You decide to launch a range of personalized ornaments. Working back from that date, you allow two weeks for designs and one week for samples and photos, then publish with the peak keywords in your titles and tags. When shoppers begin searching in earnest, your listings already have weeks of history behind them. The dates here are only an illustration; the board shows this year's real ones.
Not every opportunity sits in the busiest weeks. Alongside the major holidays, the calendar covers events such as Diwali, Veterans Day, Small Business Saturday, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa, each with its own keyword set. Smaller events draw less traffic, but they also attract fewer competing listings, which can make them a sensible place for a newer shop to win early sales and reviews.
Each event on the board gives you four things to plan around:
If a list-by date has already passed, you can still publish, but expect less time to build traction and favor items you can make and ship quickly. If it is weeks away, use the gap to design, photograph and price with care. For major events, start earlier than the list-by date; for minor ones, the date itself is usually enough. Before committing to a product, run a peak keyword through the Etsy Keyword Research Tool to confirm current demand and competition.
